Course

Game on for Dads

This course is about looking at ways that we as dads can be the best we can be for our kids. Our kids don’t come with an instruction manual – (and who actually reads those?) – so it’s good to learn stuff that might help us to help them.

In the first week we look at what our kids need, then at what our role is as dads. Week three is about communication which we follow up with discipline and boundary setting. Week five is about nutrition and the brain and week six brings it all together.

    The Course Modules

    • Session 1 - What our kids need

Intro night, sharing each of our unique journeys as a dad. Then we discuss what our kids need to grow and develop into becoming competent, well rounded adults one day.

    • Session 2 - What is our role

We reflect on who we are as dads, what has shaped and formed us and the way that we parent, concluding with the responsibility we understand we have to be the best we can be, for our kids to mature into the best that they can be.

    • Session 3 - All about communication

Is a deep dive into the importance of good communication, what effective communications requires of us, how to be a good listener, having grace and flexibility in the many and varied ways that our kids and partners need from us as good communicators.

    • Session 4 - Discipline and Coaching our kids

We talk about differing forms of discipline and how effective these can or cannot be. Then we explore how to live a life of restraint and self discipline while coaching our kids as they learn this way of living from and with us, as well as reaping the rewards of this.

    • Session 5 - Influence of Nutrition on our well-being

Is all about nutrition and the brain, discovering how fuel effects performance and learning some very fascinating and powerful facts about how the brain works and what’s going on in our heads as we experience, change, stress, high emotions, and what we can do to help navigate these challenges.

    • Session 6 - Celebration and planning for beyond Game on

We summarise everything we have covered in order to prioritise the best of what we have each learnt, as we have begun implementing our learning week to week and plan for the long term positive differences to unfold in our lives and our families.
